Last night was an unexpected treat...I switched on BBC Four and guess---my favourite costume drama was on!
Elizabeth Gaskell's Wives and Daughters. Yum.
I already have it on video and dvd. But having it on TV for ready consumption meant I could just dip in and enjoy. And how...big sigh.
The story features my favourite line ever---he once rode seven miles to bring me a wasps nest.
Molly Gibson is my favourite heroine too. And Roger Science Nerd Hambly is just right for her.
There are too many ways to tell you how much I love this story so instead I'll just say---watch it. Enjoy. I do love it---even if it even makes me somehow feel cheated my beloved choses continental chocs over wasps nests.

Best of all though she is showing romantic inclinations..... (apart from her obsession with High School Musical that is).
Guess what she picked to make in our back garden for her solo snow creativity fest?
Cinderella's Wedding Cake In Snow.
A huge four tier snow wedding cake. It's pretty spectacular! Clever girl.

My mother is currently indulging in an arran knitting obsession. She is on her second jumper (for my kidlets). Her pins are flying like the wind but even though she's doing the same pattern over---she still loses concentration and some bits have to come back out.
I feel like I'm joining her, ripping out until the glitch is undone. Now I can restart with a clear head and a closer eye to the pattern.
Let's hope I get these stitches right!

But right now I just can't settle to it properly. I sense what's to be done, but I'm not ready for it.
I'm itching to get back to earlier stuff and cut for pace/polish/revise. Maybe it's displacement...but I can't shake the feeling I need to get back and ensure the train is on the track.
So I'm going with the itch. The scrappy patch will have to wait. Oh dear...this could be avoidance in action.
